Casablanca: ...and my new cuddly self-made blanket...

You know this feeling? You are walking over a market and come across a beautiful fabric which you just adore... and which you desperately want to have... even you don't know yet what you could use it for... Well, and then you have to make something out of it, and might it just be for the reason that your husband doesn't ask you what THIS fabric is now again for...
As in my opinion this pinky flower fabric would be perfect for a new blanket - I - 1,2,3 found the fleece for the layer in-between, a very soft and fluffy white tissue for the back as well as an off-white structured linen for the frame of the blanket.
And here you go: my new self-made blanket... after a few hours of sewing at home and some more hours earlier that day on the nice derbh omar market in Casa:

Casablanca: ...and my new moroccan tile table...

Since living in Casablanca I always wanted to have a typical moroccan tile table. There exist hundreds of these beautiful tables in all kind of sizes and colours, that it's rather difficult to decide for one...

Well, this one we bought in Rabat at the 'Complexe des potiers Oulja' in one of the little shops. These tables, even the small ones are damn heavy. So be careful when trying to carry one around yourself! The metal feet were originally in a rusty brown and the metal ring around the tiles and the cement painted in a black. So I just overpainted everything with a shiny white colour so that the little table would better fit into its surroundings.... and here we go. What do you think?

Casablanca: ... and the story with the little frog

Have you ever bought flowers on a market and found a little sweet green frog afterwards in your car when you picked them up to bring them into your house? Well, I haven't until now, but exactly this happened to me the other day here in Casa...

And there he was ... just sitting in my car. A bit anxious and keeping totally quiet. So I took him carefully on my hand to put him on the grass, but obviously the little frog preferred staying on my arm... So I carried all the shopping into the house - with the frog on my arm - showed him to Khadija, did a little photo session with him and finally forced him to leave my warm skin and put him to sit instead on a big leave in our garden...

He stayed there for a couple of hours but was finally gone.... I wonder who he really was...

Casablanca: and getting ready for dinner...

I asked myself what it actually is that makes me love living in Casablanca...
Well, one point among others is, that you can sit 3/4 of the year outside in the evening, in the mild air, enjoying good food and maybe a glass of red wine...

By the way: below tableware, the glasses as well as the tablecloth (self-made) have been bought in Morocco. The antique tiles are from a little shop in Essaouira...

Casablanca: ...and my new Moroccan tea glasses

Don't you think they are just beautiful, the new tea glasses? And the best thing about them is, that they fit everywhere: in every room, on each desk and tablecloth to every occasion.
And all the colours come in two different glass sizes: the small ones for the 'thé à la menthe' or the coffee and the bigger ones for water and juice.
Special about the glasses is, that they are colourful, but plain. Normally you rather find the richly embellished ones or the truly simple ones in light green or blue glass.

Casablanca: ... and finding a new fabric for my grandparent's canapé

I have always loved my grandparent's old canapé, and when I moved to Casablanca, I was allowed to take it with me.
There it was: beautiful, exceptional, a bit instable and BLUE... nice, but it just did not fit into its new surroundings, colour wise...

And so I went to all the different fabric markets in Casablanca and brought every time a small piece of fabric with me, hoping to find one day the right one...

... until, a couple of weeks ago, I finally found what I was looking for:

And now see the result: I just love my new 'grandparent's old canapé'. It fits perfectly well into ints new home, being allover beige-red.

... would love to know how my grand-children will once like my well chosen fabric...
